Hi everyone,
I just heard from Paul that he and Attila are well on their way to Camp 4. Right now they’re just past the Yellow Band – a sandstone outcrop on the Lhotse Face. This means that they are somewhere between 1/3 and halfway to camp 4. They still have to cross the Geneva Spur.
The weather today is absolutely clear with bright blue skies so I imagine they’re feeling pretty warm.
They’re using oxygen from camp 3 onwards and for today’s climb they’re taking very careful note of the pressure drop and the time period so that we can double check that the regulators are delivering the flowrate that they’re set to.
Looking forward to receiving today’s weather report, but presuming there’s no big changes, Paul and Attila will leave camp 4 for the summit tonight.
That’s all for now,
Fiona
Hi Fiona, glad to hear the news – I wasn’t sure how long it would take them to get to Camp 4. Will they have much time for a rest this afternoon?? It’s getting a bit tense here I might say.
Took Zoe, Zac & Milly for a walk yesterday afternoon and although it wasn’t as strenuous as going to Base Camp it was a challenge – Zoe was a bit naughty and got off and decided to look for rabbits!!! Not happy.
Thinking of you both constantly and look forward to hearing more news, all my love Mumxx
fiona. thanks for the update.good to get the yellow band behind them; they must be ascending well!looks like the weather is not going to be a problem….[approx. 25 kph wind summit morning]. whats your latest? ……….. guess you are in a state of nervous anticipation ! kindest regards.[ken.nz]

Thanks for the update Fiona. There is an increasing number of closet myeverest browsers at the RBG as Paul and Atilla get closer to Camp 4. I’ll be out looking at the stars tonight if the cloud shifts even if they won’t be the same ones you might be watching. Today, things here are more like usual. My missing bag turned up yesterday afternoon with everything intact and the tea and coffee made it through customs. Today, we had a farewell for one of our botanists which also means a teatable full of yummy things to eat as I wander back and forth. Hadn’t had a chocolate teddy bear for ages so I managed to finish most of the packet…. It’s good to see your smiling face and I hope the waiting is bearable. Best wishes Paul and Atilla, I’ll be thinking of you all. love from Liz.

Hi Paul, all the good wishes I can feasibly muster are with you right now. Best wishes for the next 24hours.
Hi Fi, looking good there girl! I started with MBS last week, you were spot on, the intensive introductory subject is fantastic. I’m embarking on my own mini-everest tomorrow night …. first class in Accounting for Managers!!! I fear it won’t be as scenic as your icy adventures.
Seriously, I admire you both immensely. Know that you both have my positivity and support, as you tackle this remarkable dream.

Hopefully everything that you can’t control goes your way (i.e. weather) as I know everything that you can control has been checked and double checked a million times! Hi Fiona and Paul,
The best of luck Paul for the final assault. We are all sending out positive vibes and our best wishes to you.
We had a welcome home for your mum at Sandy’s last night Fiona and Kay kept commenting on how she couldn’t believe how “Marg looks just the same”??!!?? I’m not quite sure what changes she expected but………….it’s a worry isn’t it.
Must say it’s nice to have her home safely. (your mum that is, not Kay)
