Paul’s team had their Puja Ceremony today and he’s put together a description and some of the intriguing sound effects from this important ritual.

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for keeping all of us connected with all of you there. Really appreciate it! BTW, looks like there’s a large Asian Trekking team with you. Would love to hear about your base camp neighbors one day if you’re ever short on content. Many namastes to everyone. Also, if you don’t mind, will you let Lhakpa know that Yangji and I will be seeing His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Sunday in San Franciso. we will have HHDL bless a kata for him. thanks! p.

    G’day Paul,

It’s Cherie here. Just thought l would say hello and glad all is well at Base Camp for you. Thanks for such a fantastic website, l remember you and Fiona talking to me about it when we meet on The Overland Track last December.

It has been terrific following your progress and the audio updates are great, it really gives us an appreciation of the atmosphere and activities at BC. It certainly brings back fond memories for me as l spent 9 weeks at BC with the Victorian Police Everest team in 2005. I am looking forward to returning soon for my own Everest journey.

It was great to hear you interviewed by Craig Harper (SEN 1116) just before you left, very informative and enjoyable listening.

Glad the important Puja Ceremony went well today….l guess it is down to business now! I look forward to hearing when Fiona and the girls arrive safely at BC and your daily progress reports.

Keep up the great work, I will be cheering you on!

    Take care, climb safe.

    Cherie 🙂

    Hi Paul,
The Puja ceremony audio was really interesting. It reminded me of an old vinyl that Gavan picked up somewhere years ago so I had to unearth it and have another listen! It’s good to hear that you have been enjoying some warm weather as you get ready for the next acclimatisation round. Sounds like the daytime temperature is similar to Melbourne but maybe it’s a bit nippier at night where you are (-: Will all of your group head off together or are you at different stages in your preparations? Fiona and I met up this morning for the North Rd ride and both got a bit of a workout. The bay was so flat and the balloons were over the city yet again. They have had perfect conditions for days. Gavan met us at Cafe R and we recovered with a couple of coffees before I headed off for work. Finally work days are being outnumbered by days not at work. I’m thinking of you, take care.
    Liz.

Paul’s Everest Climb 2007

In 2007, Paul returned to climb Mt Everest after missing out on reaching the summit by 100 metres the previous year. In 2006, Paul and Fiona both climbed together and although Fiona successfully summited, problems with Paul's oxygen system forced him to turn around. On 23 May 2007, exactly a year to the day later, he reached the summit. This is the daily blog from this climb.
