Hi this is Nick here. Paul has just advised me that he is safely through the ice fall once more and back at base camp. Full story later today.
Also for everyone’s information, two media updates:
Herald Sun newspaper story
The Herald Sun newspaper in Melbourne is carrying a story today (Tuesday 8 May 2007) on Paul in the Learn section. This is also repeated on the Herald Sun website here .
The Herald Sun website is periodically going to be carrying exclusive audio-blogs from Paul which will include answers to questions posted by students through the Herald Sun website. I’ll try and advise when these audio-blogs are posted. Paul will of course continue to periodically post audio-blogs to this site as well.
774 ABC Melbourne Interview
Tomorrow (9 May) Lindy Burns of 774 ABC Melbourne radio is scheduled to interview Paul at about 4.30pm Melbourne time. You can listen live online here or later when I post a recording of the interview.

So glad you are now back at Base Camp Paul……it all seems so far away from here…I prefered it when I was closer!
Look forward to hearing you tomorrow on Lindy Burns’ program. Max and Judy arrive tonight and we will all listen to it tomorrow.

Well done on your safe return to base camp. From where I sit the ice fall seems to be a very dangerous part of the whole climb, so it’s always a relief to know you’ve got through it safely. Well done and have a good rest before the girls arrive in a couple of days.
cheers
Neil
Great news, Paul, that you and co. got back down through the Icefall safely. Now, rest well and stay strong for your summit bid!
The best,
MC
“We may be done for this day but be ready to adapt, improvise and execute for tomorrow is on its way.” mc
Thanks Nick, great to know Paul has safely arrived back to base camp. Hope all he others are OK. I have just read the article in the Herald Sun….
Paul, the picture of you…wow. It says: “Paul Adler trains in Port Phillip Bay for his second attempt on Mt Everest. ” Seems you are running in the water and training very hard. Instead of your smile your face is showing some extraordinary effort! Brilliant pic even it is without your famous smile:) Actually the first pic of yours I have ever seen without it!;) Mira
Thanks for the description Mira, I was wondering how to describe it to Paul. I was thinking maybe of a caption like ‘Adler trains for role in Rocky…’. Nick
I was thinking to mention he is training to take over Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in the next part of Terminator;) Save a copy definitely for him, Paul has to see this;) …. Mira
Dear Paul,
“DESPITE nearly losing his life last year in an attempt to climb Mt Everest, Paul Adler is determined to reach the top of the peak this year.”
I don’t think that Jordana gave you a fair go. Having followed your last attempt, I was never given the impression that you felt that you were in that much danger. If I remember correctly, you lost oxygen & felt too tired to go on during the first attempt. On the second try the next day, your legs were too tired to go back up. I never got the impression that you felt you nearly lost your life. If I missed something, please tell me (us). I just think Jordana didn’t correctly characterize your attempt nor feelings at the time. If I remember right, you were more upset than anything. In any case, you are now with a great team and a great company. My tea leaves state very strongly that you and your mates will succeed, and we in the good ole USA will toast your achievements with some West End Lager/Swan/VB or anything else from Oz we can get our hands on.

Hi Paul,
Great job! Glad you are back and resting in BC. We look forward to reading more in the coming days!

Great to read that you’re safely back in BC…Hope that the weather shines brightly throughout the coming days and that you enjoy the “home cooking”. Glad that the electric vest has proven to be of much benefit for your climbing comfort, certainly appears to be much lighter in weight that the down suit, yet as bone/spine warming. Hope that the interviews go well and that you are having fun and that Fiona and Company arrive safely and soon. And thanks for the excellent informative imagery…
Good Day…

I knew that Paul hit out Schwarzenegger… 😉 I’ve just heard that Terminator will be back without him (he won’t be in the title role indeed). The 4th part of the movie is moving ahead. Andy Vajda (Hungarian-born director) spoke with Australian paper AAP, about having The Govinator in the cast as a cameo. As far as shooting down under, Vajna told the paper he’s looking at a few other places: “We were thinking about Australia; we have been looking at the Warner Bros. Studios down there but it is early days…. ” I know, it is not as exciting as being up to Everest, but maybe – on your sitting and waiting for the weather window in EBC – can entertain you all:)
cheers
