Paul & Attila safely at camp 2

May 23, 2007 By blogadmin 16 Comments

Paul and Attila are safely back down to camp 2 and Paul’s eyes are much better.

Nick here, in a message just received from Fiona at base camp, relayed by her mother, Marg, Fiona said they were both fine and now safely back at camp 2 and that Paul’s eyes were much better. They plan to leave early tomorrow morning heading for base camp. All being well they hope to arrive at base camp by the middle part of the day (local time).

Thanks so much for the update Nick – even though the summit has passed – we still find ourselves running to the study and clicking the ‘refresh’ button during the course of the evening here in Melbourne – and we don’t even really ‘know’ Paul and Fiona – so happy Paul’s eyes are feeling better and looking forward to seeing teh next update tomorrow and some pic’s!

Well done Paul – you are in the media EVERYWHERE today – a real Aussie hero.

    🙂

    Hi Paul, and Attila

many congratulations for the climb! Well done and all the best on the final way down through the icefall. I think you are smart enough to cross the dangerours area in the morning coldness. Hope and wish that you arrive tomorrow at basecamp safely.

    Paul,
Congratulations! So happy that you made the summit and that your eyesight has improved. Fiona, I can only imagine your relief! Pat is now at C4 and waiting for his final push. I’m on pins & needles.

So pleased to hear this news. Here’s praying that the eyes continue to get better before the final trip through the icefall. How are Sherpa Lhakpa’s eyes doing? *hugs* Kyna + Kiwi mob.

Paul’s Everest Climb 2007

In 2007, Paul returned to climb Mt Everest after missing out on reaching the summit by 100 metres the previous year. In 2006, Paul and Fiona both climbed together and although Fiona successfully summited, problems with Paul's oxygen system forced him to turn around. On 23 May 2007, exactly a year to the day later, he reached the summit. This is the daily blog from this climb.
