Clear Skies but Very Windy

May 22, 2007 By blogadmin 6 Comments

Date: 3pm 22nd May

Hi everyone,

I just heard from Paul on the radio and he and Attila are safely at Camp 4. At the moment, they say the winds are quite strong up there which is a big concern. (As you know the weather forecast recently increased the wind speeds, but it looks as though they will only increase from here on for the next few days.) As you can probably imagine, this is extremely disappointing.

Paul and Attila are hoping that as night falls, the winds will drop but it’s not looking too promising right now. Anyway, they’re concentrating on melting as much snow and drinking as much as they can just in case they do get an opportunity to go tonight.

Will let you know when I hear more, Fiona

At a very windy South Col

    Hi Paul
Best wishes and prayers for diminishing winds tonight. Sit tight and if the call comes to go up, go for it with all gusto. You can do it, Paul!

    Blessings,

Paul’s Everest Climb 2007

In 2007, Paul returned to climb Mt Everest after missing out on reaching the summit by 100 metres the previous year. In 2006, Paul and Fiona both climbed together and although Fiona successfully summited, problems with Paul's oxygen system forced him to turn around. On 23 May 2007, exactly a year to the day later, he reached the summit. This is the daily blog from this climb.
